Hazel's POV ~
Seven days later...
I woke up before Fajr, the room still wrapped in darkness and quiet.
My body felt lighter today-Alhamdulillah. The weakness was gone, and with it, the heaviness I had carried for days.
After ghusl, I returned to the bedroom.
Haris was asleep.
I stood there for a moment, just looking at him. His face was relaxed, lashes resting softly against his skin. My heart replayed the last week in flashes-
Him checking my temperature again and again.
Him feeding me when I was too tired to lift my hands.
Him whispering "my jaan" like it was a prayer.
My eyes filled with tears of happiness.
I leaned closer to wake him, but before I could, his hand reached out, pulling me gently back onto the bed.
I gasped, then laughed softly as he tugged me closer.
I held his hand, giggling, and kissed his cheek.
"You were already awake, Hari?"
He smiled lazily.
"Since you went for bath,"
he murmured.
"MashAllah... you look adorable, my jaan. Teddy bear."
My heart fluttered.
"I love you so much,"
I whispered.
I glanced at the clock.
"Come... Fajr time is running."
We made wudu together, and I spread the prayer mats. Standing beside him in salah always made me feel complete-two hearts, one direction.
After prayer, my fingers instinctively reached for his forehead.
Slightly warm.
My smile faded.
"Your head still hurts, doesn't it?" I asked softly.
He nodded, trying to brush it off.
"No," I said firmly but gently, cupping his face.
"Today... you're my responsibility. You took care of me. Now it's my turn, my Hari."
After finishing my zikr and Quran recitation, I went straight to the kitchen.
Haris's POV ~
From the hallway, I watched her.
Hazel stood by the stove, sleeves folded neatly, moving with quiet care.
She was making oats-my healthy favorite-and fresh orange juice.
My chest tightened.
I walked in.
"Assalamu Alaikum."
She turned, smiling.
"Wa Alaikum Assalam."
"Teddy bear jaan," I teased, wrapping my arms around her from behind, bending to kiss her neck lightly.
"Why are you cooking? Let's go back to bed... cuddle more."
She laughed softly.
"I know, Hari. But you're not well. You didn't even tell me."
She turned and kissed my forehead gently.
"You always take care of me. Now let me take care of you."
I tried. "Just sleep with me a little, jaan... please?"
She shook her head, cheeks pink.
"First eat. Your headache will increase. You always ignore breakfast, Hariii."
I melted instantly.
She held my face like I was something precious.
"Sit," she ordered playfully. "Like a princess."
We both laughed quietly.
Suddenly-
"PLEASE! There is only ONE week left for our wedding!"
Ejza popped out, pointing at us like a child.
"I miss my little disaster, Zara," he added dramatically.
Inaya joined him.
"I miss my future where Kabirrrr is!"
"You both are making us feel single," Ejza complained.
"Yes!" Inaya nodded seriously.
Hazel and I laughed-
"ASSALAMU ALAIKUM."
Ammi and Daddy stood there.
"See how shameless they've become, Haris," Ammi said.
We vanished instantly.
Later, I hugged Hazel tightly.
"Thank you... for making life beautiful. And for taking care of your Hari."
"I love you, my jaan."
Hazel's POV ~
We planned to spend the day together in London-wedding shopping, golden streets, shared laughter.
But when I noticed his tired eyes again, I refused.
"No bike today."
"Jaan-"
"Denied," I smiled.
Instead, I made his favorite soup... and a handmade card, filled with everything I couldn't say out loud.
Ammi smiled softly.
"Allahumma barik," she whispered.
"May Allah bless their marriage and protect them from all harm."
Haris's POV ~ (Next Morning)
I woke up tired-but peaceful.
Hazel lay beside me, breathing softly. I leaned down, inhaling her vanilla and lavender scent, and smiled.
Carefully, I got up. While getting ready, my eyes kept drifting back to her.
I arranged her green cord set, abaya, and hijab pins neatly.
At the office, something slipped from my bag.
A note.
Her handwriting.
My heart clenched as I opened it.
