Around 12 pm, sunlight touched Haris's face.
He woke to find Hazel still sleeping on his arm like a sleepy kitten, teddy bear tucked between them.
He couldn't help but smile.
"How did my life change this much...?" he whispered, brushing a kiss near her eyebrow.
Leaning close to her ear, he said softly:
"Jaan... wake up. It's 12. Let's celebrate your birthday properly."
He kissed her cheeks, forehead, nose - everywhere except her lips.
Hazel blinked awake slowly, smiled shyly, and hugged him tighter.
After fifteen minutes of lazy cuddles, she finally got up to freshen.
She came out wearing a light blue frock, matching pants, and a soft chiffon dupatta - delicate, glowing, absolutely Hazel.
Haris froze for a second.
Then whispered under his breath:
"SubhanAllah..."
Hazel stood in front of the dressing table, trying to fix herself, but every small movement hurt her bandaged hand. Before she could even try again, Haris came up behind her.
He placed his hands gently on her shoulders.
"Jaan... no more straining. Sit."
His tone was soft but firm - the kind that made her obey without a second thought.
He pulled the chair out and helped her sit carefully. Hazel looked up at him, cheeks pink.
"I'll do your skincare for you," he said, rolling his sleeves up.
"You forget every day that you have your own personal assistant - on duty 24/7."
She giggled softly, her heart fluttering.
Haris opened her skincare bottles one by one. He worked with so much gentleness - tapping, blending, fixing her dupatta on her shoulder so it wouldn't bother her hand. His eyes kept drifting to her face with that soft, protective love he could never hide.
Then suddenly he paused.
He noticed.
She wasn't wearing her glasses.
The ones she always wore right after waking up.
The ones she lost in the fire incident.
His expression changed - a mixture of realization and guilt.
Without saying a word, he walked to the cupboard... and returned with a box.
Hazel blinked.
"Hari... what is this?"
He kneeled down in front of her.
Opened the box.
A brand new pair of glasses - delicate, beautiful, exactly her style.
Her eyes widened.
"You ordered these... yesterday morning?"
He nodded quietly, lifting the glasses carefully.
"You can't see properly without them, Jaan. I wasn't going to let you struggle even for a day."
With slow, careful fingers, he placed the glasses on her face - touching her cheeks gently, fixing the frame behind her ears.
"Perfect," he whispered, admiring her with a softness that melted her entire soul.
Hazel swallowed, overwhelmed.
"You even knew my number... my eye power?"
Haris gave a small smile - the kind only she ever got to see.
"I notice everything about you... even the things you don't notice about yourself."
Hazel's heart fluttered, her lashes lowering shyly as she whispered,
"Thank you, Hari..."
He leaned forward, kissed her forehead long and warm.
"Anything for my Hazel Jaan."
