Chapter 9 - "The Anniversary & The Unspoken Love".

Four months after their wedding, Hazel and Haris shifted to London with Hilal Aziz Khan and Humaira Aziz. Life felt new, gentle, and full of unfamiliar routines. Hazel slowly learned to be less clumsy, more confident, but still carried her softness - the quality Haris secretly adored the most.

Inaya and Ejza welcomed her like their own. Inaya, a fashion-designer in London, dragged Hazel to pamper days, hair trims, little makeovers, and long café talks. Hazel's English classes continued; her calligraphy grew better. She even made two friends - Sadiya, doing her Masters, and Hassan, her cousin, studying architecture.

Tonight, the whole family prepared for Hilal and Humaira's 50th wedding anniversary - a grand surprise. Hazel spent two days hand-writing a golden Arabic calligraphy frame: "Rabbi hab lana min azwaajina wa dhuriyyatina qurrata a'yun."

Her fingers hurt, but her heart felt full.

She wore a green emerald saree, soft hijab, light lenses, and a delicate heel. When she walked out, the whole family went silent. Haris's eyes lingered a second too long - enough to make her heartbeat misbehave.

The lights dimmed.

Music softened.

Hazel stepped onto the decorated stage with Inaya.

"Ammi, Abbu... surprise."

The family stood emotional as old photographs played. Hazel and Inaya held their hands, guiding them through every memory.

Later, the hall shifted into soft golden light. The couples were asked to dance. Everyone pushed Hazel forward. She hesitated - her feet already hurting - but Haris gently extended his hand.

"Come," he said softly.

They stood in the center.

Slow music.

Slow steps.

Soft breaths.

Hazel looked up nervously. "H-Haris..."

He leaned closer.

"What is it?"

She placed her fingertip on his lips - shy, trembling.

"Not now... not under pressure. When your heart feels it... then say it."

Haris's eyes stilled.

But as the lights shifted, Ejza tapped the mic.

"Attention everyone! Haris bhai wants to say something."

Hazel froze.

But Haris walked up, chest rising with a breath he'd been holding for months.

"Remember," he began, looking at Hazel, "on our first night, I said I loved someone? I lied."

Gasps. Hazel's eyes widened.

"I wasn't in love. I was scared. I thought love makes a man weak."

He paused, gaze softening.

"But then... Allah wrote you in my destiny."

He stepped down from the stage, walked to Hazel, and gently held her hands.

"I love you, Hazel Faisal Ahmed Khan... my first and my last. My greatest mistake," he smiled faintly, "was taking this long to admit it."

Hazel's eyes filled.

She shook her head, placing her finger on his lips again, whispering:

"When your heart feels it... say it."

Haris leaned closer.

"It feels it now," he whispered.

"I'm madly, hopelessly in love with you since our nikkah. You are my most beautiful mishap, Hazel Jaan."

The family clapped.

Hazel broke into the softest smile - finally letting the confession sink into her chest like a dua fulfilled.
